LED Trip Indicators Make Troubleshooting Easy
Arc Fault Circuit Interrupters (AFCIs) are an important technology available to electrical contractors as they work to build safe, efficient electrical distribution systems.
Recently named “Equipment of the Year” by Independent Electrical Contractors (IEC), Siemens’ Combination Type AFCIs meet all requirements of the current and proposed National Electric Code (NEC). The device protects against all three possible types of arc fault, line-to-ground, line-to-neutral, and series arcs and thus significantly reduces the risk of electrical fires.
Diagnosing the cause of AFCI trips can be confusing, but the Siemens patented trip indicators built into every Siemens AFCI offer help that is not available on any other AFCI. Siemens unique LED trip indicators simplify troubleshooting. Because branch/feeder-type and Combination Type AFCIs protect against multiple types of arc fault conditions, determining the cause of a trip can require extensive diagnostic investigation. Siemens unique LED trip indicators help qualified electrical professionals pinpoint quickly whether the trip was caused due to arc fault, arc fault to ground or overcurrent condition, saving the homeowner, builder and contractor valuable time and money.
Combination Type AFCIs are required as of January 1, 2008 by the 2005 NEC code for bedroom circuits.
