In June 1997, HotBend discovered a time and money saving method for bending PVC conduit on electrical jobsites.  Through a 4 phase cycle of intake, compression, combustion, and expansion; propane is used to produce a jet propelled heat that is ideal for bending PVC.  Because propane is used, the need for electricity is completely eliminated.  This not only allows the HotBend to be used on any jobsite, but also enables the user to bend in the trench itself.  Its interlocking trigger mechanism ensures safety, making accidental ignition impossible.  If the HotBend is dropped the flame is immediately extinguished.  Unlike torches, HotBend does not ever touch a flame to your conduit.  Scorching is nearly impossible.  The user has complete control and can adjust for environmental conditions by varying the distance of the HotBend from the conduit.  Unlike other PVC heaters, HotBend does not have a limited operating size.  This allows the user to bend all sizes of conduit with one tool.  From ½ inch conduit all the way up to 8 inch, schedule 40 and 80, the HotBend can bend it all.  In addition to this versatility, HotBend is fast.  In fact, it is up to 40% faster than other heaters.  Because there is no warm up time, you can safely heat PVC in just a few short minutes.  In the time that you wait for your box bender to heat up you can finish multiple bends with a HotBend.
