FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
PLASTIC COMPOSITES RELEASES NEW AERIAL TOWER BUCKET TECHNOLOGY
May 27, 2009
FORT WAYNE, IN - Plastic Composites (PCC) announced today that its Premium line of Aerial Tower buckets will be upgraded with a new fiberglass matting technology. The technology results in a lighter weight bucket allowing better use of weight load capacity of the aerial towers and bucket trucks. The new-technology bucket retains all of the strength of the cross-woven fiberglass fabric that has always distinguished PCC products from the competition, but will allow PCC to shorten the lead time needed to produce a custom molded bucket.
Jeff Newport, PCC Director of Operations, said that, “PCC will be able to shorten the lead time for a custom molded bucket by at least 40% using the new fiberglass matting technology. This improvement and the same-day delivery of stock buckets will provide our customers with the support needed to keep their trucks operating safely and efficiently in the field.”
“The buckets using the new technology were structurally tested to support over 3400 lbs weight, a 10-fold safety factor. In addition, every bucket is tested for dielectric resistance. No one else in the industry dielectrically tests each bucket,” stated Newport. He continued, “Dielectric resistance is critical when working near live power lines.”
The Premium line of Aerial Tower buckets will begin shipping June 1, 2009. This technology upgrade follows the release of the Hi-Vis buckets earlier this year. The Hi-Vis buckets provide a value-oriented bucket while still meeting the same structural and dielectric resistance properties as the Premium buckets. With the new Premium line, the Hi-Vis line, as well as new fiberglass guards and bucket covers, PCC has introduced more new products in 2009 than ever in its history.
